Hair Loss in Women
It happens more than you think
About a third of all women will experience some form of hair loss (alopecia) at some point in their lives.
There are many causes of hair loss in women, including medical conditions, medication, physical or emotional stress, hormonal imbalances and iron deficiency, to name a few.
Since women produce more female hormones than men, they are protected from hair loss for a longer period than are men. However, two-thirds of post-menopausal women suffer from thinning hair or bald spots. Unlike men, women tend to experience hair loss gradually, all over the head, even in areas where men tend to keep their hair.
For women, the topic of hair loss can be even more uncomfortable than it is for men.
Stages of Hair loss in Women
Stage 1:
Anagen Phase
This phase lasts from 3-5 years, depending on the respective individual. About 85% of our hair is in this phase. The hair at this stage is alive as the keratin growth is constant and its root fills the hair follicle up to its base.
> Stage 2: Catagen Phase
